Kami Huddleston and Ashley Bowen Murphy have seen just about everything when it comes to branding blunders and now they’re sharing their secrets to help local female entrepreneurs avoid common mistakes. Join us from noon to 1:30 p.m. May 9 at The Treasury for Premium in Practice, where we’ll enjoy lunch and a panel discussion. Tickets are $20 (free for Treasury members).
Kami and Ashley co-own a print and digital publishing company, Wedlink Media, along with a creative agency, Brandlink Media. Both entrepreneurs who thrive on creativity in business and design, the duo joined forces in 2007 and have spent the last 13 years producing a multimedia resource that has become the go-to resource couples rely upon in planning weddings in the local marketplaces that they serve. The venture began with Brides of Oklahoma and quickly expanded to Texas with Brides of North Texas, Brides of Houston and Brides of Austin.
Through largely organic efforts initially, Kami and Ashley began assisting their wedding industry clients on a deeper level with their branding, graphic design, website design and digital marketing needs through their creative agency, Brandlink Media. The company has grown its portfolio quickly and now represents many clients beyond the wedding realm, including those within the transportation, retail, financial and medical fields. Their high quality design-first marketing model has created the synergy needed to help large and small companies alike evolutionize their brands and reach their target audience in ways they never have before.
More about the panelists:
Kami and Ashley have grown a company from a team of two to now more than 35 employees and three of the four original employees that started with the company in the early years remain with the company today.
Both Kami and Ashley are proud graduates of Oklahoma City University. Kami is originally from Illinois and came to OCU on a full scholarship to play softball. Kami received her bachelor of fine arts in graphic design and won three national softball titles during her tenure. Kami is passionate about design, oversees all creative efforts of the company and when she’s not delving deep into home remodeling or interior design projects of her own, you’ll find her loving life with her two children, Lauren and Benton, and husband, Eric.
Ashley graduated summa cum laude with honors with a finance degree and served as President of the student body during her undergraduate years. She went on to attend law school at OCU as a Hatton W. Sumners scholar and received her J.D. in 2005. She worked in private practice at Hall Estill as an attorney before launching the company with Kami in 2007. Ashley’s business savviness, legal mind and innovative marketing strategies bring balance to the company’s creative talents, where she oversees growth and development of the company day to day. Ashley has three children all under the age of 8 - Kate, Harris and Caroline - and is happily married to the guy she met the first day of college, Kyle.
